Čiurlionis- An esoteric voyage 1875-1911
Milan, Palazzo Reale
From 17th November 2010 to 13th February 2011
Can a painting create an “esoteric feeling”? For the first time in Italy, it will be possible to admire the paintings of the inspiring father of spiritual abstraction, Čiurlionis, a musician and painter who possessed great sensibility and managed to use his work to stimulate the subconscious of the viewer. Čiurlionis’ works were “painted sonatas”, born of a musical architecture applied to painting. His canvasses are visionary and “affected” by feverish creativity, and Milan is dedicating a great exhibition titled “Čiurlionis. An esoteric voyage”, produced by the Palazzo Reale, the Antonio Mazzotta Foundation and the the M. K. Čiurlionis National Museum of Art.
