Frequently cited by authors as their favorite bookstore for public readings and by book-shoppers and -browsers as one of their favorite places to sate their literary urges, 192 Books is a unique institution.  Founded by Henry Hold editor Jack MacRae and gallerist Paula Cooper, this bookstore is host to many of New York's finest and most interesting readings and events. Its strongest suit is in its surprisingly large and varied collection of art books, but it also boasts a strong assortment of literary genres, with titles that vary from the fairly typical but nonetheless notable to the relatively obscure.  For its meager size, 192 Books manages to feel almost monumental in scope and breadth.
