Gut #5: witness walk is a performance and sculptural installation project aimed to promote non-violence.
During the festival, Diana Heise will distribute white chocolate Humvees in a wandering performance. In the spirit of gift exchange, the festival-goers and I will collectively dissolve these war vehicles by consuming them together. The performances will start at 2pm on 092609 and 092709, beginning at the Galapagos art space and moving through the neighborhood.
There will also be an installation of edible Humvees in the Windows on Main: The powerHouse boilerRoom, affiliated with Powerhouse Books.
This project is funded by the Franklin Furnace, supported by New York State Council on
the Arts, a State agency and Jerome Foundation
