Shweta Jhaveri Overview

One of the finest Indian classical vocalists and the only vocalist to perform Hindustani classical vocal and world vocal music since her 20s, Shwetã Jhaveri is a performer of the north Indian classical vocal form Khayãl. She also sings tappã, thumari, tarãnã and Bhajans. Born in Ahmedabad-India "Shweta is the premier female vocalist from Gujarat-India to perform classical music internationally since her age of 19"- The Gujarat State Academy. Since her mid twenties, she has garnered renown as a mesmerizing vocalist to record & perform Hindustani classical music with purity and innovative world music based on khayals & ragas with world musicians. Her beautiful stage presence has delighted audiences worldover. Shweta studied vocal music since her age of 6, under the guidance of late Pt.Vilasrao Khandekar in Ahmedabad-India, specializing in the north Indian vocal form Khayãl and the other north Indian vocal forms. Shweta further studied from the world renowned vocalist Sangeet Martand Pandit Jasraj ji. Born to a surgeon father & literary mother, Shweta was introduced to Indian classical & world music along with fine arts, classical dance, languages, science and philosophy since childhood. She has a bachelor's degree in literature and has composed music since a young age.
