My unique selling point is that I usually only use eight solid colours in my paintings apart from sometimes an odd picked out colour detail.
It never ceases to amaze me that this sort of almost 'photo real' result can be achieved with so few colours! I believe the way I create my paintings is unique to me as I am not aware of anyone else using the same type of process.
As I paint from photographic images my subject matter is limitless but most of my inspiration is drawn from street life and my great love of architecture and social history, both of which are included in my cityscape paintings. I love the contrast of old buildings and modern technology and the fact that my paintings represent a fraction of a second in time that can never be re-created. I like to think that my paintings make a record of the social history of our time.
I paint the image around the sides of deep stretched canvas frames.
A bit about my background. I worked for many years as a Freelance Corporate Interior Designer/Maker in the music and leisure industries, designing and making name & logo banners, hand-painted U.V. backdrops and mobiles and general nightclub decor. I also designed and made dance and theatrical costumes for street artists and nightclub performers and organised theme and costume dance events. I still make ultra violet nightclub backdrops and decor.
