Description: Natural Contour Drawing is the use of line to draw the edges of the subject.
The contour exercise is done without preliminary sketching. It is a single line drawing done very slowly so as to literally
feel that one is touching the edges of the subject with one’s pencil. It’s primary purpose is to develop sensitive hand-eye coordination.
Depending on the complexity of the subject, this exercise should take, at least, 25 to 60 minutes.
These drawings were done during a 3 hour model session on 24" x 18" Arches paper. The medium was charcoal pencil.
